I became a qualified Psychologist in Scotland in 2008, and then worked as a CBT Therapist in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual team in London, where I provided CBT and counselling for clients from all over the world. I often worked alongside interpreters, to support asylum seekers, refugees, embassy staff, expats and international students. Whilst I was growing up, several family members lived abroad or had emigrated, to Japan, USA, Canada and Australia, and so I was always aware of my family's experience of other cultures and lifestyles. During my training I worked in all corners of the UK: Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England, which was interesting given that Mental Health Law is different in each one. I've been fortunate to be able to work abroad, and so I have first-hand experience of culture shock and reverse culture shock. More importantly, whilst working in Denmark, Vietnam, Bolivia, the US, Greece and New Zealand, I met a lot of expatriates from a variety of cultures,
