My professional career started in social work and I have worked in a variety of settings, over a number of years, including adult psychiatry. I undertook additional training in Psychodynamic Counselling at the Scottish Institute of Human Relations between 1997 and 1999 and since then have worked in a range of counselling roles alongside pursuing a career in Social Work education. I retired from my university position in 2018 and now maintain a small counselling practice in Edinburgh.
