About

I’m Ryan Filax-Wylie, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I created Pathfinder Therapy for people who are capable on the outside, but internally feel stuck in loops—overthinking, shutdown, irritability, guilt after snapping, numbness, or that constant “on” feeling that never really turns off. My work is especially geared toward men navigating stress, anger, burnout, trauma symptoms, or late-identified neurodivergence (ADHD/autism). I’m not interested in generic therapy that stays at the surface. We’ll get specific about what’s happening, what keeps it going, what you’ve tried, and what you want instead—then we’ll build a plan that respects your pace and your nervous system. My approach is trauma-informed, person-centred, and practical. I draw from EMDR-informed trauma work and IFS-informed parts work, alongside evidence-based tools from CBT, ACT, and DBT. Sometimes that looks like learning skills to interrupt spirals or blow-ups. Sometimes it’s trauma processing. Often it’s both—stability first, then deeper work when you’re ready. I offer in-person sessions in NE Calgary and online across Alberta (and you currently mention online availability across Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well). If you’re unsure about fit, a brief consult can clarify whether this work matches what you need.
