About

I was born and raised in multicultural societies all my life. Living in several different countries on 3 different continents (United Arab Emirates, Canada, Pakistan, Wales and England) has given me unique knowledge about culturally adapting therapy to many different settings and cultures. It has also taught me to understand and work with many different kinds of people. Therapeutic techniques created in the past have not taken into consideration the South Asian Diaspora and this is a gap I aim to fill.  Along with my private practice, I work at a multicultural clinic in Netherlands as a psychologist where we work with refugees.  I have worked in many different industries revolving around social interaction before entering Mental Health, which has further expanded my ability to understand and communicate with people from different walks of life. I am also a classical guitarist and have played for Harlequins Rugby Club in Abu Dhabi. I have also completed personal training courses and have experience as a personal trainer. I believe good physical health is essential for good mental health and I can also help you create an exercise plan to support your therapeutic process. I am comfortable with providing therapy in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and English, and I speak A2 Dutch. Over the past five years, I have operated a private practice and worked in supported living (begeleid wonen) settings, working with adolescents, young adults and clients living independently. I draw on a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches—including CBT, mindfulness, psychodynamic and humanistic therapies, positive psychology and meditation—to tailor care effectively for each client’s unique needs. I am also currently completing the Augmented Psychotherapy course in Berlin. NIP and SKJ Registered.
