I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering counselling in-person in Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, and Surrey and online across BC. With a focus on trauma recovery, I aim to help individuals navigate through challenges that can feel difficult to go through alone. I encourage my clients to accept their emotions, recognize and challenge self-limiting beliefs, and reconcile their perspective so that they can cope with the difference between their reality and expectations, which can help create a more realistic perspective on their current circumstances. As a second- generation Canadian of South Asian origin, I’m passionate about working with immigrants, refugees, and members of the BIPOC community. I recognize and respect the unique challenges they encounter in Canada and along life’s journey. I hold the perspective that BIPOC individuals in Canada have unique cultural identities that require a deep understanding of individual factors that intersect with Eastern and Western cultural worldviews. Furthermore, I am deeply intrigued by each individual’s intersectionality that informs their unique cultural identity and spirituality. I find a sense of meaning and fulfillment in engaging in conversations that explore the significance of past experiences and their impact on one’s growth and life trajectory. I believe this is a realm that holds valuable potential for enriching our understanding of ourselves and our purpose in life. While I work with adults and youth, I work best with clients who are working towards developing a growth mindset and are willing to look inwards and engage in self-reflection to bring about a realistic understanding of their struggles. I work with individuals who have mental health concerns stemming from childhood experiences and those who suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, ADHD, and personality disorders such as BPD. Due to my passion for working with individuals who have bicultural identities or have immigrated to Canada, I support those who are experiencing acculturative stress, relational trauma, self-esteem issues, burnout, stress management, addictions, and grief and loss. I provide trauma counselling for women and men who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. I provide counselling for court-ordered therapy focused on respectful relationships, anger management, and addictions for men and women. With a culturally responsive approach, I provide counselling in Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi, and English. In my practice, I use CBT as my main modality with an emphasis on integrating the neurobiology of trauma. I also draw from DBT skills training, narrative therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, family systems, and Gottman Method to support my clients and help them move through their healing process. Through my experiences, I believe that my journey has equipped me to connect and and hold space for others to heal and grow. I provide a safe, warm, and cozy environment for our sessions where we can connect
