About

I’m a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and offer a warm, reflective space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and relational patterns. Therapy with me supports deeper self awareness, new perspectives, and a growing sense of agency. My work is informed by person centred and psychodynamic approaches, and our sessions are collaborative, shaped by what matters most to you.   My path into therapy has been shaped by a natural curiosity about human behaviour and emotion. I spent five years immersed in the study of Psychology and Counselling, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Emory University, followed by an MSc in Counselling Studies from the University of Edinburgh. I have also earned a COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) Validated Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies. This academic foundation, combined with meaningful experience in therapeutic settings, has shaped my approach to working with clients in thoughtful and responsive ways. I work with individuals, couples, and families around life transitions, anxiety, grief, career pressures, and relationship concerns. My practice is confidential and collaborative, grounded in thoughtful support that connects insight with lived experience. If you’d like to learn more about me and my work, you can visit my website: https://www.spacebysohail.com/   My approach is rooted in person centred values, including empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a respect for clients as experts in their own experience. I also draw on psychodynamic ideas, particularly how early relationships and unconscious patterns shape the way we relate, feel, and live in the present. I see therapy as a deeply human and relational process. My path into this work began with my own experience of therapy, discovering how transformative it can be to feel seen, heard, and accepted as you are. In our sessions, I offer a safe and grounded space to slow down and explore what you are carrying. We make room for what has not yet had space, both in the here and now, and, when you are ready, by gently looking at what has shaped your story over time. I am especially attuned to subtle, edge of awareness moments, the felt sense, where deeper insight and lasting change can begin to emerge. Our work is not about fixing or diagnosing. It is about curiosity, connection, and care. Therapy with me is collaborative. I offer a steady presence, attuned listening, and thoughtful reflection, inviting you to make sense of your experience at your own pace. No two clients are the same. My work is shaped by what you bring and guided by my training, attention, and a commitment to supporting your agency, uncovering new ways of living and relating. I offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on what feels right for you. You are free to end whenever you feel ready, but I believe endings are important. When possible, I like to mark this transition with an agreed ending that we work towards together – so we can reflect and
