About

Hi, I am Uzma Mukhtar, an Integrative Psychotherapist offering a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can speak freely, without fear of being misunderstood or criticised. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or trapped between their own needs and the expectations of family, culture, or community. You may have grown up learning to stay quiet, stay strong, or put others first, even when it came at a cost to your own wellbeing. I support children, adolescents, and adults experiencing difficulties such as: Anxiety, overthinking, and constant worry Depression, emotional numbness, or low self-worth Complex PTSD and childhood trauma, including emotional neglect Effects of domestic abuse or controlling relationships Burnout, stress, and identity struggles Loss, grief, and major life transitions My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, meaning therapy is shaped around you and your experiences. We will work at a pace that feels safe, gently exploring patterns, emotions, and past experiences while developing practical tools to help you feel more grounded, regulated, and in control of your life. For children and young people, I use creative and play-based approaches to help them express feelings that may be difficult to put into words. With adults, I combine talking therapy with grounding and stabilisation techniques to support healing and emotional resilience. As a culturally sensitive therapist, I understand the complexities of South Asian family systems, intergenerational trauma, and the stigma that can exist around mental health. I offer therapy in English and Urdu/Hindi, if that feels more comfortable, and aim to create a space where all parts of you are welcome. I am registered with BACP and work to high professional and safeguarding standards, regularly updating my practice through ongoing training and evidence-based approaches. Reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially if you have been taught to cope alone. If you are considering therapy and want a space that honours both your cultural background and your personal experience, I warmly invite you to get in touch.
