About

I have been in practice since 1987. During my career as a psychologist I’ve been a school counsellor, have supervised educational psychology Master’s students, conducted managerial and neuropsychological assessments and run a private practice. In my current practice I see mainly individual adult patients with a wide range of psychological problems. I was psycho-dynamically trained, then developed an interest in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but have finally found my niche in schema therapy, and was recently certified as a schema therapist. Schema therapy has its roots in CBT but was developed further in response to psychological problems, such as personality disorders, that did not respond to the brief-term therapies. It is now widely used internationally to treat a broad range of psychological issues ranging from personal growth to serious psychopathology. An integrative therapy, schema therapy combines the best of the cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and the emotion-focused therapies – hence its appeal to me! Overall, schema therapy aims at emotional healing and behavioural change. We all have emotional and behavioural disturbances to some degree. Through schema therapy, I believe  we can change our lives for the better by healing our early emotional wounds as well as understanding and managing our reactions to our thoughts, beliefs and feelings about ourselves, others, and the outside world.
