I believe our role as therapists is to empowers individuals from any backgrounds to better understand themselves, build resilience, and gain confidence to reach out and find the best support for them. This is a collaborative process. I am of mixed South Asian heritage. As a British person of mixed heritage, I can truly empathise with identity crises, lack of belonging and the complexities of growing up in non-nuclear families. This has had a profound impact on my therapist identity.
